Xander VerHelst by Landon Opipari
Xander VerHelst is a hardworking, welcoming student that makes the school a better place. He has big after school plans, the biggest of which will be traveling out of the continent.
Xander has relatives that live in the Netherlands. He plans to stay with them for a few months to help with architecture, as they are architects. They offered to house him, and he accepted. After this, Xander plans to go to GRCC to complete his core classes.
Like with many students, senior year has been a blast for Xander. He has particularly enjoyed his classes, and the lax mood of teachers. It has also brought on some stress regarding colleges and after high school plans.
As for advice, the classic “don’t fall behind” is what Xander recommends most to students. “Falling behind only makes everything else more difficult and takes longer. It also limits what you can accomplish”
Xander loves to draw and play video games in his free time, along with reorganizing his room frequently. Hiking and working are other pastimes of his.
He works at Landsharks, where he sells clothing and shoes. He works there on an as-needed basis, generally a few times a week.
Winter was boring for Xander, with the exception of Snowcoming being fun. He isn’t a fan of winter in Saugatuck, as there isn’t much to do.
During all this excitement, Xander plans to keep in contact with a few people after high school, with timezone being a big struggle to overcome when he’s in the Netherlands. Let’s all make his last trimester here the best one yet!
