Being the New Kid by Lexi Brooks
Being the new kid can be hard sometimes. You have to make new connections with people, find new friends, and get settled into your classes. While you try to figure all of that out, you also have to do your schoolwork and go to your classes. When you feel like you have gotten settled into your new classes and maybe you found some new friends, you can finally focus on the school work and classes. When people notice a new kid at their school they should be kind; the new kid may be struggling with finding their classes or finding people who can help them.
On my first day, I was lucky enough to find a few people who were a huge help to my first experiences at the school. The amount of times I couldn't find my class or couldn't get my locker open, there was always someone around who immediately offered to help. Sometimes the people who help you in the beginning are the friends who you stay with for a long time.
For new kids, it can be very easy to feel left out or feel like you don’t fit in. This can be an issue even when it may seem people are trying to help. I have felt like that before, even when I had friends to help. It can make you feel like you don't fit in when you don’t know who a lot of people are at the schools or anything about the teachers you have for your classes. When you are the new kid it can take a long time to feel comfortable with the surroundings of the school and the people as well. Once you finally feel like you fit in and you have some people to help and be friends with, you can finally take the label “new kid” away. So, if you see a new kid at your school, try to help, as they may be having a hard time finding their way around. They may just need that one person to help.
