Seniors’ Favorite Memories by Maya Veldt
As graduation starts to get closer, many seniors are anticipating the new stage in their life. Although everyone is starting their new journey, seniors are remembering their favorite parts about their time here at Saugatuck. Our seniors participated in school sports, groups, and clubs. These activities shaped their experiences here at Saugatuck and their favorite memories.
Many of our seniors participated in band throughout the years, and it helped shape them into who they are today. The seniors that joined the band created close friendships and bonds, which molded their favorite memories. Liam Norbeck was one of the students that joined band in 6th grade and continued through his senior year. His favorite memory was the band lock in that took place his sophomore year. Along with Norbeck, Grace Greenwood also participated in band and was drum major for her junior and senior year. She stated that her favorite memory from high school was from the football games. She said that she enjoyed sitting with her friends and goofing around.
Aside from band, many of our seniors participated in athletics through the school. These teams created many memories that will last a lifetime for their athletes. Matthew Hartgerink was the quarterback this year for our Varsity Football team and he stated that his favorite memory throughout high school was his last football season. Along with that, Kiran Gahir participated in Track and Field throughout her time here at Saugatuck. She stated that her favorite memory was going to Olive Garden the night before state finals every year. This was a time to connect with teammates before the final meet and have a good meal.
Although only a few memories were shared by these students, thousands more were made in the past four years. These seniors have realized the importance of making long lasting friendships and memories throughout their high school years. By joining groups and clubs students were able to have a memorable experience that they will never forget. Graduation will be a bittersweet moment for the seniors but they are satisfied with their time spent here and memories created along the way.
