What Is Happening In Nablus? by Meera Abu Zarou
On February 22nd of 2023, at ten in the morning, the Israeli Occupation Special Forces invaded Nablus (a city in occupied Palestine.) They initiated a massacre that resulted in them murdering 11 Palestinians and injuring over 120 others.
Undercover, the special Zionist forces entered the old city. They were dressed in dishdashas (ankle length rope usually with long sleeves) and had their firearms concealed underneath an Islamic prayer rug. The home of two Palestinian youths engaged in resistance was besieged. A few moments later, the house was bombed. After that, the IOS began firing at anyone in the vicinity. Provoked locals started to throw rocks and other heavy objects at the oppressors in an effort to defend the city and keep its inhabitants safe.
At the scene of the raid, Nablus residents embraced one another, mothers cried aloud for their kids who had been killed, and the locals led the funeral procession through the streets of the city. Six of the eleven martyrs were young men in charge of protecting the city from the occupation's terror. Husam Salim and Mohammad Abu Bakr, two of these young warriors, endured a protracted siege while sacrificially fighting the occupation forces till their deaths.
Husam Aslim, a martyr, pleaded with his fellow Palestinians in a widely circulated audio message as he lay trapped and fought for his life: "My brothers, we ask that you not let go of the rifle, we ask you to fight fiercely for our Homeland... I love everyone. I love life. And I love my mother. Please do not forget Al Wadih and Nabulsi's will... and please forgive us."
From the beginning of 2023 until that day 60 Palestinian were killed, but we still have hope. We hope that one day the world is going to hear our cries and screams and fight with us for our rights and souls.
