Quads by Chase Seeley
Quads are one of the essential pillars of motorsports. These wonderful machines have been around for decades and can be a creative outlet as well as an incredible adrenaline rush for the user. This article will go over all the details on these incredible machines.
Quads are very simple in concept, but very intricate and complicated when looked at deeper. The basic format of a quad is a four wheel design with a center seat and handlebars like a dirt bike. But that's where the similarities end. Quads usually have two kinds of suspension setups. The first being full independent suspension, where each wheel has its own shock and suspension arm with independent axles as well. This format is more common on utility and hunting quads. The other setup is where the quad uses independent suspension on the front but on the back it uses a single shock on a large swing arm connected to a solid axle (like a dirt bike but on two wheels). These are more commonly seen on smaller sport quads.
As stated earlier, there are two main categories for quads. These being utility and sport quads. First off, utility quads are usually outfitted with larger, more aggressive wheels and tires and built with larger engines. They are just overall very big and bulky. These machines are built to perform hard use tasks such as plowing the driveway or hunting. These quads, as said before, are very heavy and incorporate an automatic transmission more commonly and this makes them not the most exciting thing to drive. On the other hand, there is the sports quad. These quads use light frames, smaller, higher performance engines and lighter, smaller wheels and tires. These quads, as the name suggests, are more oriented for performance on the track or trails. These quads also occasionally feature a two stroke engine that can offer more power with a lighter weight. These quads, unlike utility quads, are usually found with a manual transmission so the rider has more control over the vehicle. This combined with the light weight makes these quads very lively and enjoyable to operate.
No matter what quad is used, the user will always be absolutely delighted with their high speeds and amazing features. What's not to love?
