Midnights Review by Ava Tringali
October 21 was a big day for “Swifties” across the globe. After months of suspense and excitement, Taylor Swift finally released her newest album, Midnights.
This newly dropped album, “Midnights,” is quite a contrast compared to the well known Taylor staples like “Love Story,” “Our Song”, and “You Belong With Me”. Taylor describes her fresh twenty songs as “folklorian woods.” If you give the album a listen you can hear lots of unique instruments and sound effects to add to the overall vibe of the songs.
Over the course of 24 hours upon “Midnights” release, Swift broke the record for the most streamed Spotify artist in one day. Not only was she the most streamed artist, but the new release also claimed the title of “most streamed album in one day.”
Senior and huge Taylor fan, Elsa Dean said, “Huge! Epic! I loved it, especially ‘You're on Your Own Kid’ because as a senior I really relate to it.”
Despite millions of positive reviews, many have opposing thoughts.
Senior Natalie Tuckerman said, “I listened to a couple songs but I didn’t really like them.”
Many social media posts show fans being disappointed in “Snow on the Beach'' because of its missing vocals from the famous Lana DelRey. This being said, the album still reviewed highly.
Sanaa Conaway, a sophomore from Portage, says, “I like that Midnights goes back to her 1989/lover era style of music and my favorite song would have to be ‘Bejeweled.’”
Touching on what Sanaa had to say, “Midnights” does in fact combine all of the best parts from Taylor’s previous albums.
Saachi Rajgarhia, TikTok star and student at Black River, says, “I kind of love it.”
Now that fans have had a chance to listen to the new releases, they are waiting for the tour dates to be released. Rumor has it that her next tour will include “Evermore”, “Folklore”, “Lover”, and of course “Midnights.” If this is true it will for sure be one of the biggest pop concerts yet.
If you haven't already, be sure to stream Midnights on Spotify, Apple Music, and Amazon
