Carter Dalton by Landon Opipari
This year Saugatuck High School has welcomed many new students. Carter Dalton is a junior that we have welcomed into the school with open arms.
Carter enjoys spending time drawing, with her friends and pets, along with trying new things when she can. She has felt welcomed into the school, and has had a very easy time making new friends. Everyone here has shown her a welcoming energy she appreciates. She has moved around a few times over the years, with her last school being at Grant High School North of Grand Rapids. She is familiar with the Grand Rapids area and thinks that Saugatuck has less trendiness and peer pressure to maintain a certain image. Her favorite class so far is journalism. The class’s open nature was appealing to her because she could be herself and write about what she’s interested in.
There are a few adjustments that Carter has had to make. She is not used to trimesters, as her old school had semesters. This makes the classes feel faster paced and more urgent, as deadlines are sooner with less days in each class. Unfortunately, she has not been able to see many of her old friends since moving because they don’t live nearby; however, she remains positive and is able to fit in well with everyone else. One of her biggest goals is to maintain her GPA, a very formidable task with some of her more difficult classes, like algebra.
Carter has a variety of animals. She has 4 dogs, 4 goats, and a cat. She tries not to choose favorites and she appreciates the companionship that these animals bring with them.
The school year has a lot more to offer. Let's all make it welcoming for Carter.
