JV Basketball Update by Lance Oczepek
With a rough start to their season, the boy's JV team has been starting to improve as the season has progressed. Close games and non-conference games made the start of the season very tough. Things are starting to look up for the team. A couple of weeks ago the boys beat Martin by a large margin. Most recently the team beat Delton-Kellogg, which was a close game. Saugatuck was back and forth vs. Delton, but they pulled away at the end to claim another win.
Unfortunately due to a snow day on Wednesday, the JV team was unable to play their game at Eau Claire. As of writing this article, Saugatuck had a home game on Thursday against Black River, which….. that should be exciting. With all the snow days the team hasn't played a game since last Thursday and hasn't practiced since last Monday. During snow days JV teams are not allowed to practice, so this might affect their game. Hopefully, the team jumps right back into the game as it's been a while since they've been together.
Oliver Hosier, a member of the JV basketball team was asked about the recent snow days and what to expect from the team. When asked if he enjoyed having snow days he said he likes them because he doesn't have to do any school work but he’s sad the team didn't get to practice. Oliver thinks that the team will do alright but will probably be out of practice. So it seems that maybe the snow days have messed with the JV teams' improvement. The home game Against Black River will definitely show if the team will stay on their streak of improvement or if the snow days were bad luck for the team.
