Who Is Grace Dombrowski? by Natalie Tuckerman
Grace Dombrowski came to Saugatuck High School as a Junior last year. Grace previously attended Hamilton and Kent City High Schools. When asking Grace about this transition, she said it was a very hard time for her to switch between schools. She only went to Hamilton for one year, during her Sophomore year. She felt that she never fit into the atmosphere of the Hamilton High School until she changed to Saugatuck. Now, Grace is a senior and planning her future beyond high school. One of her first steps was writing her Common App Essay. Grace wrote her essay on the strange adjustment to different schools and how she found her home at Saugatuck High School.
Along with the Common App essay, there are also plenty of questions on the Common App that need to be answered to apply to certain colleges. This is always a stressful time of year for seniors because it is recommended that they have their applications completed by November. Grace said that she got a good start on her applications and has already applied to Ferris State University, Michigan State University, Central University, Grand Valley State University, and Western Michigan University. Grace said the most difficult but important part of applying is completing the FASFA.
Since it’s Grace's senior year, she did not sign up for any hard classes, due to stress of applying for colleges. Instead, she is enjoying her Senior Seminar class that is recommended for all seniors. In this class, Grace’s group has the opportunity to bring better study spaces to Saugatuck High School. If you attend this school, you may notice our lack of study areas outside of our classrooms. This is something that Grace and her fellow Senior Seminar group members wanted to improve on. On Tuesday, Grace's group will be presenting their findings to some teachers of the school. Everyone is excited for them to finish this project.
Now that you know a little more about Grace Dombrowski, don’t be afraid to say hi to her in the hallways and wish her good luck on her next step of her college journey.
