JV Girls Basketball by Caiden Pearson
The JV girl's basketball team includes 12 players, only five of whom were on the JV team last year. Three members are playing their first season ever, and many are starting their high school careers. So far, the girls are doing very well. They are even right now, winning four games and losing 4. They have had some close victories and some close losses.
This year, the JV girls' team has two new coaches: they go by the names Coach O and Coach Mint. Both coaches have much basketball knowledge, and are a good fit for the team. The girls have a variety of skills and multiple people in each position. Typically, they run an offense with one central point guard, two wings, and two posts. Their defense is usually man-to-man, but they can switch to a 2-3 zone when necessary.
This week, the girls only have one game. Their Tuesday game got canceled a few weeks ago, so their Thursday game is all they have, and it was an away game. They played at Galesburg Augusta, which is a far drive. The last time they played, they played Galesburg Augusta as well. They lost by ten points. This time, the girls hope to get another win in the books.
Last time they played Galesburg Augusta, one of their 2nd year JV players, sophomore Chloe Collins, unfortunately, got hurt. She had to be in a boot for a while, but now she is back for their next game against them. She usually plays wing and post. The team is interested in seeing how the game goes; they can beat them, given their skill. If the girls play to their potential, they will have another win! Be sure to ask the girls and boys JV members how it went!
