Who are the JV Golf Players by Charlie DeYoung
This year is extremely different for the golf team. Last year there was only a Varsity team with 10 players and no JV. For the sport of golf, it takes 6 players each round. So the other 4 got to chill around and practice. Anyway, this year there are Varsity and JV teams. Varsity has 7 players and Jv this year has 9.
On JV this year the players are Carter Miller, Caiden Pearson, Brighton VanHorn, Charles DeYoung, Mason Rehkopf, Justin Oetman, Maggie Loomis, Walt Bos, and Lance Oczepek. This year seems like it's going to be a great year. We have just had our first few practices, and there are some ups and downs. Our 3 players who played last year are Brighton, Charles, and Maggie. Finally the 6 others, Caiden, Carter, Mason, and Justin are new this year and in their junior year. There were no new Sophomore players this year. Lastly Freshmen:Walt and Lance.
Walt is a freshman and has been playing golf for 2 years before he joined the team and is most likely the best on JV. While on the other hand, Lance has great drives of the teeing area, but could use some work overall.
Maggie, the only sophomore, did play last year and was improving and she'd been playing with her father before she joined.
Now time for the Juniors. Carter is a first-year player and has played golf before with friends. He has lots of power in his swing but could work on some accuracy. He’s on the Varsity Basketball team and has been dominating the court. It seems like Carter wants to play next year and continue working on his skills.
Mason is next, Mason is also a first-year player and like Carter can hit the ball as hard as possible, but golf is a different sport than just hitting the ball as far as possible. He has average putting on JVs. He wants to finish next year and work on his skills. He enjoyed the sport and has played before with friends.
Brighton is our 3rd option and is in his 3rd year of golf. He is enjoying golf this year but can also get heated pretty quickly.
Justin is our 4th junior. He has never played golf in his life and wanted to make the team.
Charles is our last person and this is his second year playing and loves the sport and believes he will get better and work on the rest of the golf rules.
Overall, this year will be great and we all can use some skills and keep practicing.
