The Passing of Keith Miller lll by Kenzie Sanders
Keith Miller lll played for the Colorado University football team. According to BuffZone he had played for two seasons with Colorado and the past two years at Texas A&M–commerce but sadly passed away in his apartment near the TAMUC campus on April 11, 2024.
Miller, age 22, was a receiver from the community of Texas but played at CU in 2020-2021. He didn’t come into sight in any of the games before transferring to TAMUC, but he has left a mark on his teammates and coaches from his two years in Boulder.
As reported by Daily Mail “the girlfriend, Caila Jae, wrote on instagram ‘I’m only going to address this one time for the sake I don’t want any fake news being spread. Leith was mentally battling something that not me or even his mom could help him with. I have done everything I could I as his partner to try to help him during his battle but ultimately God as the final say so.’”
As stated in BuffZone one of the coaches says ‘‘as coaches we are so focused on wins and losses that we sometimes forget to check on our former players!” former CU player and assistant coach Darrin Chiaverini wrote on social media ‘We lost a great young man today in Keith Miller!’’
“Chiaverini, now the head coach at Northeastern State University, recruited Miller out of the community. Several of Miller’s former fellow student- athletes with the Buffs also took to social media to express their condolences.
Former CU teammate CHris Miller “Greatest guy and life of the room, Rest in power Keith.”
“After transferring, Miller caught 39 passes for 457 yards and four touchdowns in two seasons at TExas A&M-Commerce. In 2023, he was named a team captain and caught 22 passes for 274 yards and four touchdowns.”
“‘We are heartbroken by Keith's unexpected passing,” Lions head Coach Clint Dolezel said in a press release by the school. “Keith was a beloved father, son, teammate, and student-athlete. We extend our deepest sympathies and sincere condolences to his family, friends, teammates, and all who loved him at this very difficult time.”
It is very important to check in on players during the sport seasons. Handling school, sports, and basic life all at the same time is a big struggle. If you notice someone acting off or looking down make sure you check in on them and see if there is anything you can do to help!
