New Salem by Charlotte Gardner
Since it is Halloween and fall time, that means that the New Salem haunted corn maze is open. It is located in Salem and is available for October. There are lots of activities that people can participate in, the most popular being the corn maze and haunted woods. This past weekend seemed to be a popular weekend for New Salem, and since it is relatively close to Saugatuck, a lot of students went. Here are some of their opinions on their trip.
Calvin got the chance to go to New Salem twice this weekend the first time he went with a group of freshmen and sophomores, and the second time he joined a group with his friend from Fennville. He said: “The corn maze was not the best, it was pretty mid; it was not that scary. The woods were better, they were more fun, and it was spooky.”
Noah went to New Salem this weekend with his friends he said: “It wasn't as scary as people portrayed it to be; the apple cider was good. I had a fun time going through the maze even though the scarers weren’t that good at their job.”
Cass went with a very big group. He said: “It was fun, the lines were very bad, I got taken into an outhouse with Mason and Calvin and I couldn’t breathe. The woods were better than the maze.”
Jaxon went with all of his friends on Friday night: “It was fun, I had a lot of fun with my friends. The woods were better than the maze. I got to kiss one of the scarerers and they were very nice.”
Ava also went to New Salem with a group of twelve. She said: “I have never been that scared; I don’t think I could’ve made it without John and Noah. Annie and Carter added to my stress by telling the actors my name.”
Since Halloween is this upcoming Monday, this is the last weekend that it will be open. Make sure that if you haven’t gotten the chance to go, you do because it seems to be very fun!
