Enzo Sanchez Moretti Pinna by Benjamin Majer
Enzo Sanchez Moretti Pinna,18 years old, is an exchange student from Brazil. He is from a city in southern Brazil named Mogi das Cruzes. It’s a pretty big city with around 500,000 citizens.
Enzo decided to do an exchange year to improve his English speaking capabilities and to learn about a different culture. He has been in the US for exactly 100 days and he says he enjoys it a lot here.
When asked about his biggest surprise when coming to America, Enzo says, “I was very surprised by how welcoming the people here are; everyone is really nice and they are helping me learn about their culture.”
When asked if he prefers Brazil or the US, Enzo responded with, “That’s a really hard question. On one hand, I like the weather here a lot since it doesn’t really get cold in brazil. Also, I'm way happier in this school than in Brazil since there's more to school here than studying. It’s a lot more fun here with all the school teams and all the classes we can choose from. On the other hand, I love the beaches, the hot weather and the culture in brazil. So yeah, both have their ups and downs but I don’t think I have a favorite.”
Enzo likes both American and Brazilian music. His favorite song right now is olha a explosao, so maybe Brazilian music more right now, especially Brazilian funk.
When asked about his favorite food back home, Enzo responded with “Feijoada for sure! It’s like black beans with some stuff. It’s probably the most famous traditional Brazilian dish.” His favorite food he has had since he’s been here? McDonald’s triple cheeseburger.
Enzo says he really misses his friends, but especially his family. His favorite class so far was probably personal finance with Ms Moorer because the class was fun and also it’s really helpful for life. Enzo played soccer last trimester and he really enjoyed socializing with everyone and improving himself.
If you see Enzo in the halls, say hi!
