Past and New Weather by Logan Luft
As we all know, the weather this past week has been interesting, to say the least. As of writing this article, January 24th, all of us were not expecting to receive a “snow day” yesterday, January 23rd. Although most of us are happy to wake up to that “No school” text, some of our grades or classes may have gotten messed up or put back due to this. We know how the weather was last week, but how much do we exactly know about it?
According to the weather program, TimeAndDate, the weather in the past few weeks has been getting warmer. The highest temperature was 38 °F which occurred on January 24th at 1:21 pm. The lowest temperature we saw the past weeks was a stunning -1 °F which was seen on January 15th at 3:53 am. After all of those days, this brings the daily average to 24 °F.
As mentioned above, most of us are confused about how we got a snow day yesterday. Although we have an idea that it was due to the rain, how bad was it yesterday? According to the same weather program, the lowest temperature we saw was only 33 °F, which is above freezing. As well as this, the hours 5 am - 4 pm had continuous rain, which we believe was the reason for the “snow day”.
Now the big question is, what will next week's weather look like? This next week's weather looks to be a nice and warm week. The lowest temperature this week is only 28 °F which occurs on January 29th. Thursday, Friday, Sunday, and Wednesday will have a high chance of light rain, while Saturday and Monday will have a chance for light snowfall. Although it doesn’t seem nice, on Saturday and Monday there will be visual signs of the sun shining.
This next week seems to be an interesting one, but no matter what it's important to check the weather daily and make sure you are safe.
