NFL Divisional Rounds by Noah Conklin
The Super Wildcard Weekend is over, and the winning teams are headed to the divisional round. Those teams are the San Francisco 49ers, the Baltimore Ravens, the Buffalo Bills, the Kansas City Chiefs, the Green Bay Packers, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, the Detroit Lions, and the Houston Texans.
Some upsets occurred in the Wildcard Weekend, with two teams beating suspected great teams. The teams that were involved in the upsets were the Green Bay Packers against the Dallas Cowboys and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers against the Philadelphia Eagles.
The Cowboys started with a bad season and ended with an excellent season, but their winning streak couldn’t stop the Packers. The Cowboys went undefeated during the regular season when they scored against other teams first. When other teams scored first, they went 2-5. That is what stopped the Cowboys from beating the Packers when Jordan Love and the Packers went to beat the Cowboys 21-0 in the first half.
The Eagles, on the other hand, had an excellent season until their star wide receiver and quarterback got injured. AJ Brown was the Eagles’ leading receiver and helped them get into the playoffs, but when he got injured, it was all over. Just after he got injured, quarterback Jalen Hurts took a hit and struggled to get into his routine. The Buccaneers, led by Baker Mayfield, started strong and hit the Eagles hard where they couldn’t make up points.
The matchups heading into the divisional round are the Texans vs. the Ravens, the Buccaneers vs. Lions, the Bills vs. the Chiefs, and the Packers vs. the 49ers. The Texans with star quarterback CJ Stroud are going to have to have their A game when playing Lamar Jackson and the Ravens. Jordan Love and the Packers may lose their spot when they play the Super Bowl-determined team, the 49ers.
