Meet Avery Sanders by Ashtyn O'Neill
Avery Sanders is one of many amazing students we have here at Saugatuck High School. She is a sophomore and has been having a very successful sophomore year. She is sixteen years old and frequently enjoys playing with her dogs, spending time with family, and coloring.
Avery plays volleyball and for her sophomore season, she played on varsity. This allowed her to play at a higher level and really get better as a player. When asked if she enjoyed being on the varsity team, she responded with, “I liked my season on varsity because it helped me gain knowledge of the game and helped me grow as a player to improve. It was a little nerve-wracking being pulled up, since I was more comfortable with playing with my friends and the people I’ve been playing with for so long; however, I got really close with the girls very quickly.”
Avery also plays club volleyball for Impact Dynamic Volleyball during the winter months. When asked how her club season has been going so far, she responded with, “Pretty good, we have definitely been doing well, but there's always room for improvement. I like doing club because it allows me to play with more people and get help from other coaches.”
Overall, Avery is doing great things around Saugatuck that people want to see more of. If you see her, tell her to keep up the good work.
