Eva Kierzek by Lily Locker
Seniors only have a month and a half before they are done with their high school careers! These last few weeks will be hectic for seniors as they say their final goodbyes to SHS and prepare for the future ahead. One of these seniors is Eva Kierzek.
Next year, Eva plans to attend Northern Michigan University to further her academic and athletic career. This is located in Marquette, MI. She has recently committed to playing D2 Women's Ice Hockey for Northern Michigan University, and she's beyond excited to see what it is like. As for her studies, Eva is planning on studying graphic design and marketing in the next four years.
Senior year can be an exciting time as students prepare to move on to their next stage of life. Here's what Eva had to say about her senior year: "Personally, the hardest part of my senior year has definitely been the brutal realization that this is the last year that I get to play sports for this school. Saugatuck soccer, volleyball, and track have all shaped me so much, and it's going to be incredibly difficult to say goodbye to the orange and blue. Regardless of how hard it will be to end, I'm excited to begin my last soccer season with this awesome team and the freshmen coming up."
Along with playing varsity soccer and volleyball for SHS, Eva plays GRAHA travel hockey. She is a member of NHS, NAHS, and she plays jazz guitar and bass in the Saugatuck High School Jazz Band. Coincidentally, her advice to underclassmen relates to her experience with extracurriculars: "Be involved. I, myself, am not much of an extrovert or people person in general, but looking back at my experiences in high school it is undeniable that I had the best experiences from being involved in things more than myself. Applying yourself to extracurricular activities whether it's sports, jazz band, Interact, or all of the above, will truly give you the best experiences and once in a lifetime opportunities."
With high school approaching an end for Seniors, now is a great time to reflect on past memories. Eva had this to say about her favorite high school memory: "A lot has happened during my four years here; however, I think I have to say that my favorite memory from high school was winning our first district title in soccer. Then, winning it again."
Much congratulations to Eva Kierzek for her acceptance into Northern Michigan University! We can't wait to see everything she accomplishes in the future.
