So Many Snow Days! by Annika Vanderbeek
As many of you have probably noticed, all of West Michigan and probably many other places have been getting mounds and mounds of snow! Here in Saugatuck, we have about a foot and a half of snow coating the outside grounds. And of course, all of this snow has the outcome of a lot of snow days! In this short period of just two weeks, we have already had three snow days!
Although all these snow days have been a blast for the students, we are all hoping that we don’t reach more than six snow days, because at that number, we will be required to make up those days in June. Nobody wants to waste any days of summer break replaced with school!
All this powdered snow on the ground reminds me of Christmas again, if only we had this much snow then, or at least a little bit of snow. But hey, people who were born to live in Florida were happy with no snow on Christmas. I interviewed a few people on what they thought about all this snow, we will start with Aiden Zylman. They really liked the snow days that we got from the snow, but they are not a big fan of the cold. Although they don’t like the cold, they do spend some time out in the snow by taking an eight-minute walk. The next person I interviewed was Abbie Tower. She liked the amount of snow that we got, and she said that it gave us the Christmas spirit we needed. She also told me about when she had a snowball fight outside in the snow.
If you don’t go outside in the snow on a snow day, what is really the point? Don’t just stay inside for the whole day, don’t stay in your bed to rot for the whole day, take a step outside. To just lay in the snow for a little while is so nice, to watch the snowflakes fall from the sky. And don’t just say you don’t have snow gear as an excuse, did you know cold kicks of winter snow can actually boost your metabolism and even help you lose weight? Plus taking a cold plunge into the icy cold snow can really be fun. Happy snow days!
