Indoor Track by Vivian Vallarsa
Indoor track club is off and rolling! Indoor track is a club sport that this year began on the last week of November, but it’s never too late to join! Indoor track is a great way to condition and stay in shape during the winter months. Participants can train distance, sprints, or even just throws.
Indoor is a much more laid back version of track. Because it is a club, students don’t even need to sign up or get a physical. Attendance is also not mandatory (but it is highly encouraged that you come out as much as you can!). There are many optional meets throughout the winter that members can attend, (but again, it’s highly encouraged that you go!). Just like Track and Field and Cross Country, indoor track is a TON of fun.
Some track athletes were asked about their thoughts on indoor track, and distance runner Anna McQueary replied, “I think indoor track is a good way to get in shape and stay in shape for track season, and to stay healthy and active during the winter months. It’s also a fun way to get to know your future teammates.” Sprinter Nova DeGraaf was also asked and she said, “I think that it’s a very good thing, so if you don’t have anything going on, you should definitely check it out. It’s a great experience where you can get fit and also make many friends in the process.”
No matter your running ability, everyone is welcome to come join the fun. Interested? Practice starts in the collab space at 3:30 every school day. Questions? Feel free to ask any track athletes or Mrs. Bauer for further information. Hope to see you there!
