Why You Should Visit Sweden by Ellen Martinsson
First of all, why wouldn’t you want to visit Sweden? Exactly, so do us all a favor, book your flight right now, and save me the work of trying to convince you.
But if you didn’t book your flight already, and you don’t really understand why you would want to visit Sweden, then keep on reading.
Sweden is an amazing country and blah blah blah. No, but for real, as a Swede, I don’t really appreciate Swedish nature and culture as much as I should. But I’m telling you right now, visiting Sweden is something I recommend you do. Sweden has something for everyone. And, yes, I know what you are thinking, so do most countries, but just listen.
Sweden isn’t famous for having really great pizza and pasta, like Italy, or an Eiffel Tower, like France, or really hot climate like Tanzania, Mexico, or Thailand. But we do have pretty good food, both healthy and delicious. We have some famous statues, museums, and places. We have warm weather in the summer and cold weather in the winter. We have nice people, pretty nature, and lots of activities to do.
While going to Sweden, I really recommend that you spend time in nature. About 60 percent of the Swedish territory is covered by forests, which makes Sweden the second most forested country in Europe, after Finland. Sweden also has over 90,000 lakes.
My favorite thing to do is going to a lake, surrounded by mostly forest but also some houses of course. Just spending your day there with your friends or family is so fun. I do this a lot in the summers.
Going to a lake, swimming, listening to music, watching the sunset, going tubing, boating, and enjoying your time with your loved ones is something completely different. Yes, there are a lot of lakes in the U.S, but trust me, it's not the same thing.
If you like shopping, we have a lot of malls and stores you could walk around in. We have mountains to hike and ski on, lots of interesting museums and places to visit if you like history, not a personal favorite, but we still have it. A must, if visiting Sweden, is going to the old town in Stockholm, walking around on the small streets is pretty cool.
If you go further North you can visit an ice hotel in the winter. It's a hotel made of ice, and they rebuild it every year. Everything is made of ice: the beds, walls, roof, chairs, everything. It’s a pretty unique experience.
As I said, Sweden has something for everyone and I only named a few things you could do in Sweden. The main reason why Sweden is so great is because I live there. Just kidding.
Anyway, go buy your flight tickets already. Can't wait to hear what you thought about the trip.
