Who Is Elsa Dean? by Natalie Tuckerman
Elsa Dean is a senior this year at Saugatuck High School. She came to Saugatuck in 7th grade from England. Before living in England for two years, Elsa lived in Illinois. Her family traveled from place to place because of her dad's job. When I asked Elsa about how her past years have been at Saugatuck, she had very positive things to say. She is very close to her friends that she has made at Saugatuck since 7th grade. She also enjoys her time attending as many Saugatuck sports events with them as she can.
Since she is a senior, she will soon move again to whichever college she chooses. Obviously, she is used to moving quite a long distance and might find herself at an out-of-state college. So far, she has applied to Montana State, Grand Valley State University, and Western, Michigan University. Elsa says she is working on her applications for Michigan State University, University of Michigan , and Minnesota University. As you can see, she has a lot of diverse options from in-state and out-of-state. Elsa felt that it was important to give herself plenty of opportunities when decision day comes.
Although senior year is typically easy for most, Elsa signed up for AP Environmental Science this year. So far, she is really enjoying this class and loves Mr. Smit’s teaching. Recently, the APES class went on a trip to Muskegon for a boat study. Although it was a cold day, the group had a lot of fun despite the weather. However, everyone came home exhausted and took a nap before the football game. Elsa is also involved in the Senior Seminar class projects by brainstorming ideas for Outside Learning. Her group will be presenting their ideas to teachers at Saugatuck High School on Friday.
Along with many seniors, Elsa says she has a bad case of Senioritis. She is having a fun time at school with Homecoming week and the football season just ending, but is excited to be done with high school. It is very exciting to apply to colleges and get your applications back, but sometimes the wait can be disappointing. I know I would love to be at college and starting my adult life now too. Wish Elsa Dean luck on this process and her new journey to college!
