Lions v. Rams by Carter Miller
The Detroit Lions beat the Los Angeles Rams on January 14th, 2024. This was a monumental win for the Lions.
Goff threw for a touchdown and completed a pass for a victory-sealing first down against the team that gave him away, and the Lions won their first playoff game in 32 years. Matthew Stafford, a former Detroit quarterback, had a respectful game throwing two touchdowns.
The lions played strong throughout the game, having a strong supporting cast around them. Rapper and famous motor city legends Eminem, Barry Sanders, and Calvin Johnson were all in attendance to watch the Lions play.
Detroit fans showered Matthew Stafford with boos when he ran onto the field to take a photo with his family. The fans in Detroit all chanted “Jared Goff” as Stafford made efforts to mentally lock in for the game.
Detroit drafted Stafford No. 1 overall in 2009 and while he put up great numbers, he didn’t win a playoff game in his 12 seasons. Stafford hugged and greeted many Detroit players and staff before the game began, showing his gratitude towards the organization. As for the fans, Stafford was displeased with their actions. A quote from ESPN says “I’m happy for the players,” he said “I’m happy for those guys.” Many Detroit fans took this personally. But in his defense they were booing their old franchise guy.
Overall it was a great game from start to finish. With big names and high stakes, it was a game Detroit fans will remember for years to come.
