TV Girl by Aiden Zylman
TV Girl is a band that originated in San Diego, California. This popular Indie pop band consists of Brad Petering, Wyatt Harmon, and Jason Wyman.
TV Girl released its debut in 2010, followed by a mixtape in 2012. Then they released their debut album, French Exit in 2014.
TV Girl gets inspiration from 1960s music. Their inspiration is seen in their hit song, “Lovers Rock.”
TV Girl gained attention when they did a song sample of Todd Rundgren’s 1973 solo version of “Hello It’s Me” on their song “If You Want It.” However, this was issued a takedown notice and the song was later excluded from their debut EP Bandcamp page.
Their second album, Who Really Cares, was then released in 2016. This well-known neon pink and blue album is known for its famous hits, which include “Not Allowed” and “Cigarettes Out The Window.” Their songs “Not Allowed,” “Blue Hair,” and “Cigarettes Out The Window” blew up on social media in 2020-2023.
In 2018, TV Girl released Death Of A Party Girl, which is known for its popular song, “Blue Hair,” which was granted popularity in 2022.
On Spotify, TV Girl has achieved 19,116,992 monthly listeners. The first song TV Girl ever made is “Overboard (Dirty Gold Cover),” released in 2011.
TV Girls’ most well-known songs include “Not Allowed,” “Lovers Rock,” “Song About Me,” “Loving Machine,” “Blue Hair,” “Cigarettes Out The Window,” “Taking What’s Not Yours,” “The Blonde,” and “Birds Don’t Sing.”
After a short interview with my classmate, Annika Vanderbeek, she answered, “My favorite TV Girl song is ‘Better In The Dark.’ I like this song because of the melody and its singable lyrics.’”
