Lions vs 49ers Game by Logan Luft
The Lions vs 49ers game was a… interesting game to say the least. On one side you have fans from Detroit who have not seen their team, the Lions, actually win a Super Bowl yet or really lose all season; however, on the other, you have the San Francisco 49ers who have a total of 5 Super Bowl wins. Although this game seemed clear to most at the beginning, it was an intriguing and interesting game.
During the first quarter, the Lions were playing really well. Jameson Williams ran a 42-yard touchdown and David Montgomery ran a 1-yard touchdown. These two touchdowns ended up beginning the Lions' score with a 14 total; also, due to the Lions' defense, the 49ers were not able to make a single point.
During the second quarter, both teams ended up playing decently; however, as well as before, the Lions scored more points than the 49ers. Christian McCaffery (who plays for the 49ers) scored the first touchdown at 13:49, he ran a total of 2 yards. Although it seemed like this quarter should've been the 49ers, the Lions ended up scoring one touchdown and one field goal (the first one made by Jahmyr Gibbs and the other made by Michael Badgley.) This quarter started halftime with the score 24-7, Lions.
During the third quarter, the 49ers made the comeback many were looking for. Jake Moody scored the first set of points by making a field goal at 11:02, which was then followed by two touchdowns. One of these was made by Brandon Aiyuk, who caught a 6-yard pass, and the other was made by Christian McCaffery, making this his second. This quarter tied the game 24-24.
The last quarter was an unfortunate one for Detroit. This quarter started off with a field goal made by the 49ers, which put them in the lead. After that, Elijah Mitchell ran a 3-yard touchdown, adding additional points to their score. Although Jameson Williams scored a touchdown right after, this soon followed up with a closing game for the Lions. The ending score ended up being 31 for the Lions, and 34 for the 49ers, putting the Lions' season to a stop.
