Jefferson McCluskey by Maggie Loomis
Jefferson McCluskey is a senior here at Saugatuck High School. He is finishing up his last trimester of senior year. The senior's last day is May 18th. This year's senior class is a good size with 56 students including ten exchange students. Graduation will be held on May 25th this year. After graduation, Jefferson plans on attending GRCC for two years to get basic credits done. He is then wanting to transfer to Michigan Tech to finish with a business major.
During an interview with Jefferson, he was asked to share some advice for underclassmen or upcoming high schoolers. The advice he gave is: “Enjoy the time you have while you are here.” This advice can be very helpful for underclassmen, as this quote reminds us all to not get too caught up in our work and to take time to enjoy and appreciate the present without worrying about the future.
While interviewing Jefferson about finishing up his senior year, he expressed his thoughts: “It is nice to be over with high school, but at the same time, it’s kind of sad.” This is similar to how many seniors feel about the end of the year. Although it has been a long four years for most seniors, it is bittersweet to leave Saugatuck High School behind. Although it can be sad, the seniors have an opportunity to start a new chapter in their lives.
Jefferson seems to be enjoying his time here at Saugatuck High School and has become an involved student. In his free time, Jefferson is a part of the varsity football team, which played a total of nine games this season. On the field, Jefferson plays as a center/guard.
Outside of school, Jefferson works in the community. He works at both the Saugatuck Brewing Company and Grow Cafe + Bistro, which is located in downtown Saugatuck. Both of these locations are restaurant-style businesses. Jefferson seems to keep himself busy with work outside of school and football. That is all, for Saugatuck senior:
