What's Going to Happen? by Lexi Brooks
Today students and teachers at Saugatuck Public School were asked the question: What's going to happen? When asked the question there was no added context, it was just the question. Most of the people who were asked had no clue what to say, but with some help from their imagination, they came up with some pretty funny ideas.
When they were asked: What’s going to happen, most people would ask the question: “About what?” or “What do you mean?” They would get so confused that they were just told to predict something from the future or to just say something.
The most common response had something to do with the world ending or the human population decreasing or dying off. Some people just had absolutely no clue what to even say, so they just said, “I don’t know” or “I don’t know, something will happen.” There were a few people who came up with very creative ideas, really thinking into the future to predict something that will happen, like the winner of the Super Bowl or what teenage girls will be into.
Here are all of the responses that were asked by the students and teachers that were asked:
“I predict that I'm going to go home after the basketball game and snack on a bunch of candy.”
“The world will end eventually.”
“Thoughtful sigh.”
“I don’t know.”
“You're going to cut your hair off.”
“Abby’s going to run into a wall.”
“The world is going to blow up.”
“I don’t know, something’s going to happen.”
“It’s going to break down, we're going to fix it, then order the part, then it's going to work better than before.”
“We are all going to die eventually.”
“The Lions are going to win the Super Bowl.”
“Your day goes on.”
“Climate change.”
“All the teenage girls are going to find another brand to obsess over and drop hundreds of dollars on it.”
Asking this question really got people to think outside the box and come up with a fun idea to share. Most of the people who were asked the question were minding their own business, just walking down the hall, or working on the school project.
