GTA VI by Benny Majer
Rockstar Games announced the first Grand Theft Auto VI trailer to release on Tuesday morning, December 5th, 2023. But Monday night, the night before they planned on posting it, someone leaked it and posted it on TikTok. Rockstar Games responded fast by posting on X (former Twitter) and saying: “Our Trailer has leaked so please watch the real thing on youtube.” So because of this incident, Rockstar Games had to post the long awaited trailer on Monday night, instead of Tuesday morning. The trailer has broken multiple records with more than 100 million views on YouTube after not even 24 hours.
But let’s focus on the actual game. Grand Theft Auto VI has to be one of the most hyped and most awaited games ever. Its predecessor, GTA V is one of the best selling games of all time and has been sold over 190 Million times by November 2023. Rockstar Games has been working on GTA VI for 10 whole years now, since GTA V came out 10 years ago, on September 17, 2013. As it’s already been a decade since the last Grand Theft Auto game was released, and GTA fans were extremely happy since they thought that the trailer meant that the actual game would be published soon too. But we got disappointed: in the trailer they announced that the official game would be released in 2025, but they told us no specific date. It’s going to be released for Playstation 5 and XBOX Series X/S in 2025, but the PC players will have to wait even longer. Also, Rockstar Games has a long history with delaying games for months and months after the official announced date, so we can’t be sure for it to actually publish in 2025.
What did the trailer tell us? First things first: the game's resolution is amazing. It looks amazingly realistic, and the game is supposed to look even better than the trailer. For the first time ever, the game will center on a female protagonist called Lucia. Later in the trailer, she’s shown with a man on her side robbing multiple stores and committing other crimes, which has for me kind of a “Bonnie and Clyde” feeling to it.
Also, what made a lot of fans really happy, is that the game will return Vice City, a huge Miami inspired hotspot filled with neon colors, a crazy nightlife and lots of fun and exciting stories to explore. There’s some more things that we learned about the game, for example the Florida like wildlife with Alligators walking around, or the cars we’ll be able to drive like Porsches and Rolls Royce, but there are not really a lot of major things it tells us besides Lucia and Vice City.
