Pink Out Volleyball Game by Nathan Schaefer
Thanks to the people who run the Saugatuck Student Section Instagram account, there was a fantastic turnout at the Pink Out quad that the volleyball girls played. They played against Black River, Eau Claire, and Zion Christian. During the game the student section did a fantastic job representing the school spirit of Saugatuck's student body with everyone participating in the theme and a whole ¼ of the stands being filled out.
The ladies played fantastic during the games, beating two of the three teams with the loss being very close. The players came out in shirts supporting people who have suffered from cancer with the names of said people pasted on the back of the shirts.
Haley Rivera, setter and #2 had some words to say about the game: “I felt the game overall went really well, I think it was a great opportunity for us to show our support for people and families who have been affected by things like breast cancer or just cancer in general. I know a lot of the girls had very meaningful people on the back of their shirts so it was nice to see us all represent someone during the start of the game.”
She also had this to say about the student body turnout: “I think overall it was great to see them come out and support volleyball in general but then to have them all participate in the theme and show their support for pink out and breast cancer awareness, that really meant a lot and it showed that our community was able to come together.”
Overall, the pink out game was a big success and made it that much better that the supporters from all of the teams that played were able to come out and be positive participants.
