What are the Seniors’ Halloween Costumes? by Anna DeYoung
Halloweekend has finally arrived! Though this weekend will be loads of fun for students of every grade, it is the traveling seniors' last chance to enjoy the holiday while they are in their hometown. To celebrate their final Halloween in saugatuck, the seniors made sure to perfect their final costumes.
A main costume group that I noticed as I was interviewing my peers was the amount of costumes based on cartoon characters. Will Ayers, a senior at Saugatuck, says that he will be dressing up as Jafar from Disney’s 1992 hit movie, Aladdin, “Me and my coworkers are dressing up as Disney villains on Saturday night.” Will works at Bowdies Chophouse, downtown Saugatuck.
Emilio and Anubis are also going as cartoon characters, specifically from Cartoon Network’s Adventure Time. Emilio will be dressing up as Marceline the vampire queen. Marceline’s signature look includes a gray tank top, red flannel, and faded jeans. Anubis will be dressing up as Princess Bubblegum. Princess Bubblegum pink hair with bangs, and an iconic monochromatic pink outfit. These outfits will contrast each other wonderfully!
Grace Dombrowski will be dressing up as Hulk Hogan, the famous American wrestler. As a 5’5, 17 year old girl, this costume is going to be so good. She purchases her shirt, spandex shorts, and sweatbands earlier this week and she’s prepared to commit to the character. This costume is going to be absolutely perfect, and we are excited to see pictures of her night!
As for me, I will be dressing up as a pirate. It is a bit of a basic costume, but I had to pull it out of my closet, due to me not being able to commit to one costume earlier this month. Naleah Boyers, another senior at Saugatuck, will also be dressing up as a pirate. Our costumes are different, but two is better than one!
There are many more impressive costumes, including a firefighter, a cheerleader, a cowboy, and Lieutenant Columbo, from Columbo. To all seniors, make sure to enjoy this last Halloween in Saugatuck, you don’t know where you’ll be next year! To everyone else, you should also make sure to enjoy Halloween, it only comes around once a year!
