Architecture and Design Class by Caiden Pearson
Architecture and Design is a one-trimester class reintroduced this trimester. It is taught by Vince Heyser, who centers the class around introducing students to the vast world of both Architecture and Design. He teaches the students about both aspects of the class through different interactive assignments.
The program's main design program used in the classroom is Chief architect. Some of the projects that they have going on right now are building their own parent's house floor plan on chief architect, doing a research paper about four famous architects, building a floor plan for a made-up family, and designing earrings to be printed out on the laser table.
Jaxon Green, a student in Architecture and Design, has some comments about the class: “It is a fun and very interesting class. I think that this class could be very useful for someone interested in getting into this field of work. I enjoy using the layout software; it’s fun to draw out house plans.”
Maggie Loomis says: “This class is cool. It gives insight into the possible world of architecture and an opportunity to explore this possible career choice. There are many cool assignments that further my knowledge and vary greatly in their contents.”
As a student in Architecture and Design, it is a great opportunity for interested students to be introduced to all the ins and outs of designing and building houses. From learning how to design a floor plan on Chief Architect to learning about the process of building a house, in the end this class does and has it all.
Ethan, another student, said it has truly opened his eyes to the complexities and difficulties of building a house. Overall, Architecture and Design is a new and exciting class for the students of Saugatuck to enjoy.
