Pistons Beat the Wizards by Charlotte Gardner
For the past few months, the Pistons have had a rough season; their current record is 4-36. They had been on a 28-game losing streak right before Christmas and broke that streak with a win against the Raptors. They then went on another losing streak of seven games and were able to get a win against the Wizards.
The game against the Wizards was a close one, but they were able to get the win. Two players contributed a lot to the team during this game, they were Alec Burks and Jalen Duren, they both had the most points and rebounds as well as making all of their free throw attempts. Burks was able to lead the team to a 129-117 win, and he scored 34 of those points. Duren added to that with 20 points and a career-high 19 rebounds. The Pistons were also missing their two top scorers, Cunningham and Bogdanovic due to injury, which affected the team due to the Pistons having to pull up bench players.
This game was an interesting one, to say the least. Not only did the Pistons win, but they had initiated a trade between the two teams a day prior, although the players were inactive for their new teams. The Pistons seemed to have the majority of the ball throughout the whole game and limited the Wizard's scoring, they held them after the second half especially due to a lot of turnovers done by the Wizards.
In the past few games, the Pistons had struggled with turnovers but in this game, they seemed to turn that around and get the win. The Pistons play the Minnesota Timberwolves next who are the top team in the Western Conference. It will be exciting to see how the Pistons do for the rest of the season.
