Eleanor Mason by Annie Molenhouse
Eleanor Mason is a senior at Saugatuck high school. She is a proud member of the Saugatuck High School concert and marching band as a clarinet player. Aside from band, she enjoys making artwork and biology/science related classes. Eleanor has made great contributions to the school in many ways since she has attended Saugatuck.
Eleanor’s plans to attend college after she graduates in May. As of now, she is undecided and waiting to hear back from a few more schools before making a decision. She is set on studying something in the biology/science field. She hopes to go on to earn her doctorate and become either a professor or a researcher.
Eleanor was asked if she had any advice for underclassmen or incoming freshmen. She responded with, “Make sure to enjoy your time in high school, because it's a once in a lifetime experience full of wonderful opportunities. Though grades are certainly important, you shouldn't let them get in the way of having fun with your friends or taking part in extracurricular activities, especially because the extracurricular activities that you participate in will be hugely influential as you start applying to colleges. Overall, make sure that you have a well-rounded career in academics, clubs/teams, and community service, but do not sacrifice everything else in pursuit of these activities.” She has very well rounded thoughts about high school and the importance of balance.
The final question Eleanor was asked is how she is enjoying her senior year. She responded that it has been interesting, but also very similar to previous years. Coming to terms that she will only be in the school for the next few months is a little stressful, but also very exciting. She can’t wait to see what comes next and watch as her hard work pays off.
If you see Eleanor, be sure to wish her luck! Congrats, Eleanor!
