Who is Lyvia Curtis? by Emma Schoonmaker
Lyvia Curtis, a freshman here at Saugatuck High School, came here in her 7th grade year. Before this, she lived in San Francisco, California, South Carolina, and Oregon. If you ever want to know about those particular states, just ask her what it is like there and she will surely give you the full run down and the do’s and dont’s and the pros and cons of each area. Her older sister, Meryn Curtis, also goes here and is in 11th grade. Lyvia has an adorable, fluffy golden retriever at home whose name is Bubba. In her free time, Lyvia is often found reading books or watching rom-coms.
Lyvia runs cross country and track and has been doing so ever since she started attending Saugatuck Public Schools. Her place on the cross-country team was crucial for securing the girls' team’s spot at the state finals.
Lyvia is also a very smart student. She is advanced in math, English, social studies, and soon-to-be science, as she is planning on taking AP Environmental Science next school year. Although it may seem nice to be ahead in practically every class, it is both a blessing and a curse. Lyvia says that sometimes she wishes she was not advanced because she barely has any classes with her friends, and only has classes with kids from grades above her.
Beyond her notable attributes, Lyvia is very knowledgeable in the world of fashion and has a keen sense of her preferences when it comes to articles of clothing and how to style them. Her favorite brands consist of Free People, Abercrombie & Fitch, Aerie, Artizia, Brandy Melville, and Lululemon, among many others. When asked what her go-to comfy outfit is, Lyvia said, “Sweatpants, a big comfy hoodie, cozy socks, and Boston Birkenstocks.”
In terms of foods and desserts, Lyvia has always had a natural lean towards chocolate and cookie-flavored items such as chocolate, mint chocolate chip, and cookies and cream ice cream, and of course, Lyvia will never turn down brownies. While she may have an undying love for chocolate, Lyvia has a peculiar resentment towards cheese. She avoids eating anything with too much cheese in it (except pizza of course); as a result, living in America must be pretty hard for her, as almost every dish has some sort of cheese in some way, shape, or form.
