Lennox LaFramboise by Annika Vanderbeek
There are many new students in Saugatuck Public Schools this year, and each and every one of them is unique. If you see somebody walking around this school that you’ve never caught a glance of, then why not just talk to them for a bit? This could make them feel a lot more welcome and it could relieve some new student stress to have a friend to guide them around. This week in journalism, we chose a student who is new to this school to interview them about how it’s going for them here. I thought nothing of it and just chose a random 6th grader, but I was in for a treat when I chose Lennox LaFramboise.
Lennox, a student in 6th grade, joined Saugatuck Public Schools a few weeks into the first trimester. He moved here because he was about to get expelled from his old school (who knows why) and his mom took him out beforehand. Apparently, he used to go to a school called, quote on quote, “school”. I could not get him to spit out the actual name of that school, so we’ll just call it the mystery school. One thing that he noticed about Saugatuck Schools that is different from his old mystery school is that we are not allowed to have backpacks during class. He missed that factor of his old school very dearly.
His favorite food that he had this Thanksgiving was bread. Just bread. Something he wants for Christmas is… freedom? What is that supposed to mean? Freedom to eat all the bread at Thanksgiving? I guess we’ll never know.
His favorite class here is 3:15 which is not surprising for a sixth grader. I’m guessing he is just so excited for his next day at school he just can’t wait to get out! He also likes recess, which he did not have at his old school.
During his free time, he likes to sleep. He also answered that sleep is one thing on his bucket list, which doesn’t make any sense, but to each their own. In closing, if you see Lennox, or really any new student walking around here, why not talk to them?
