21 Savage’s New Album by Logan Luft
As a new year begins, many new artists from all genres are beginning to make or drop their new albums or singles. We’ve got albums and songs from artists such as Lil Tecca, Drake, Lil Baby, and many country artists as well; however, one big name stands out from the rest: 21 Savage, a rap artist who grew in popularity fast at the beginning of his career. While he was still in his prime, he began to drop one of his most famous albums recently American Dream. But who exactly is 21 Savage?
Shéyaa Bin Abraham-Joseph was born on October 22, 1992. He decided to not use his real name when beginning to rap, and decided to use a stage name, 21 Savage. 21 Savage is a British-American rapper who was born in London but moved to the United States and was raised in Atlanta, Georgia. He began his recording career in 2013 and released three self-released mixtapes to regional acclaim. These mixtapes began to skyrocket his career and eventually would make him one of the most popular rap artists of all time. Just on Spotify alone, 21 savage has a total of 60.2 million monthly listeners, higher than most rap artists.
Although he is popular, how does his new album compare? 21’s new album, American Dream, dropped on January 12th, 2024, three days after he announced it. Since then, his album has beaten multiple records. Some of its accomplishments include his song “Redrum” being at #2 in the country, “NEE-NAH” featuring Travis Scott & Metro Boomin debuting at #10, and his album becoming #1 in the country. These are just a few of his accomplishments with this album.
Although some people do now enjoy rap music, and some of those people do not enjoy the new type of rap, most of us can agree that these accomplishments being a solo artist is a thing to be proud of. Even if you don’t enjoy rap, it still could be interesting to listen to.
