Peter Mitchell by Noah Conklin
Peter Mitchell is fourteen years old and is a sophomore this year at Saugatuck High School. He moved from Key West, Florida, previously attending Key West High School. Peter and his family decided to move to Saugatuck because his dad retired from the military, and they wanted to live in a spot near his family’s grandparents, which ended up being in Saugatuck.
Peter’s favorite things about the school so far are that there are fewer people here than in his old school, which had around 1,400 students. Peter also says that the teachers focus on the students more rather than the whole class, which Peter likes better. He said that Saugatuck is also more friendly and relaxed than his old school was. His favorite class so far this year is physical education.
Peter has one sibling who goes to Saugatuck. His Little sister Lilly is in 6th grade. He also has a little brother in 5th grade at Douglas Elementary School. Peter plays football and track, and he loves to go fishing on his family’s boat.
Peter says that Saugatuck High School is very different from Key West High School. According to Peter, Key West is much bigger and very densely packed; the school has quarters instead of trimesters for classes, there is no PE class, and there are different courses, like automotive class. Plus, lunch is very different than it is at Saugatuck. Students could eat outside at Key West High School, and the school also has four other multi-story buildings. The gym and theater also have their own separate building.
Lastly, I asked Peter about his favorite music artist and genre. He said he likes to listen to all kinds of music but mostly rap and hip hop. Peter said that his favorite music artist is Playboi Carti.
