Saugatuck Teacher’s Favorite Music Artist by Mylah Simpson
There are many articles about students and their favorite music artist or their favorite song, but there aren't many about the teachers favorite music artist or their favorite song. They too have a singer who they can always listen to or a song they never get tired of. So why only interview students? This article will focus on the teachers at Saugatuck High School and their favorite music artist.
When Ms. Lewis, an English teacher at Saugatuck High School, was asked about her favorite singer, she said that “It depends on my mood. I’d probably say, Stevie Wonder. I don’t know if he is my favorite though.” Stevie Wonder is a singer-songwriter and musician who creates music through a range of genres. He is known for songs like ‘Superstition,’ ‘As,’ and ‘Living For The City.’ Ms. Lewis was then asked about her favorite song and she replied with “‘Rock with You’ by Micheal Jackson.”
Another teacher at Saugatuck, Mr. Green, a history teacher, stated that his favorite music artist is “Q-Tip from A Tribe Called West.” Q-Tip is an American rapper, record producer, singer, and DJ. He was born in New York, and is known for his innovative jazz-influenced style of hip hop. He is known for popular songs such as ‘A Little Party Never Killed Anybody,’ ‘Vibrant Thing,’ and ‘Can I Kick It?’
Ms. Austin, a Health and Fitness teacher, commented that at the moment her favorite singer is “Luke Combs.” She also added that her favorite song by him is the “Fast Car remix with Tracy Chapman.” When asked why, she said that “he is stuck in her head.”
After asking about her favorite music artist, Ms. Galloway responded by saying that it is “Taylor Swift.” She then said, “that’s who I listen to the most.” She has stated that her favorite song is “Anything from the 1989 album.”
Sometimes teachers can be unthought of when it comes to things like who their favorite singer is, or what their first choice is when they think of a song, but they too have someone in mind when asked these questions. Ms. Lewis, Mr. Green, Ms. Austin, and Ms. Galloway, all have a singer that they love to listen to and a song they will never forget.
