Construction Update by Ashtyn O'Neill
As most of you know, the Saugatuck Middle/High School building has been under construction since last school year. A lot has changed since the beginning of construction. This includes the use of the new band room, which had been being built throughout the summer and fall of last year, and working on the new main office. Also, the construction in the old main hallway and old Freshman hallway, which has caused quite a bit of chaos around the building, since it makes all of the student body travel through one small hallway.
However, this will hopefully be changed very soon. As of right now, construction is actually two months ahead of schedule. When the students come back from spring break, the old main hallway should be opened up again, allowing a normal flow of traffic throughout the halls. This area will also be where some teachers' temporary classrooms will be while they wait for their new classrooms to be finished. This includes Ms. Lewis’ room and Mr. Shaw’s room. Also, after the students come back from spring break, the new main office will be completely finished.
The next section of the building to be worked on is all the classrooms on the far side of the school near the art room. This includes Mr. Shaw, Mr. Green, Mrs. Galloway, and many more teachers whose classrooms are currently on that side of the school.
Even with the main hallway reopening, the high school will not go back to full normalcy just yet. There will still be loud bangs and noises of things falling and work being done just like how it’s been for the past year and for years to come. Eventually, we will have a brand new modern-looking school, but for now, we wait.
