Halloween Plans by Maddie Klein
Halloween is celebrated on October 31st, which is a Monday this year. Usually it’s the one night of the year where people dress up in a costume of their liking and go trick-or-treating, but everyone changes what they do every year. Some of the students at Saugatuck will be going trick-or-treating and some are not.
Xander VerHelst is going to a Halloween party with friends. On Halloween, Xander is going to watch horror movies with his family and eat candy. They are planning on watching Monster House, as they do every year, and all of the Conjuring movies. Mason Leslie is going to scare little kids in Saugatuck. Landon Miller is going to the New Salem Halloween Maze in Dorr, Michigan. Julia Lowery is going with her friends and is going to the movies and buying a big bag of candy instead of going trick or treating because she doesn’t like strangers. Araceli also might go to New Salem again with a group of people but they don’t know for sure.
Halloween is the time of year that families sometimes spend time together, but it seems as kids turn into teens, they like to go out with friends more. For example, Nathan Schafer is dressing up with friends and going trick or treating and scaring kids as a friend group instead of spending time with his family. Sometimes it's more fun for teenagers to go out with their friends. Halloween is a time for people to disguise themselves and be something or someone they wanna be.
“I have already carved pumpkins, so I made them from Nightmare Before Christmas and we had some of our friends over to do that, and then we make what we call pepitas, which are pumpkin seeds, and then we go buy our halloween costumes as a family. My cool mom's side of the family gets together and celebrates the October birthdays and celebrates Dia de los Muertos at the same time,“ Andre Rodriguez-Kupres said. Niki McNeil is going to binge watch horror movies the entire weekend with her little cousin Gadge Duniphan.
Halloween is a lot of people's favorite holiday.
