Taylor Takeover by Ava Tringali
This week was another big one for “Swifties” across the globe. November 15th, 2022 was the release of the ticket pre-sale. Many took days off work and school to focus on this important race.
Taylor Swift's last concert tour took place in 2018 “Reputation.” After that tour, she went on a nearly four year hiatus. Despite taking a break from concerts, she released four new albums and two special releases: Lover, Evermore, Folklore, Midnights, Taylor’s Version, and the 3 a.m. Release. As announced shortly after Midnights dropped, Taylor’s “Eras Tour” will consist of a few songs from each of her incredible albums, all the way from Taylor Swift to Midnights. The concert will be insane.
When the first ticket waiting room opened, Ticketmaster was overwhelmed by its overpopulated URL. Shortly after the lobbies opened, the site crashed globally and many queues were delayed and paused. Fans were consumed by the delays and full of anxiety. First Swift broke Spotify, now she broke the internet. What will she do next?
The six ticket limit has caused many issues for people who were set on reselling for extreme prices. While this may be unfortunate for resellers, it is convenient for those who were hoping to attend the concert.
Sophomore Niki McNeil says, “I was completely blindsided when I found out that I was going to be seeing Taylor Swift in concert. My oldest sister, Darby, called me to tell me the news, knowing that she was too excited to keep the secret until Christmas. She put a lot of time and effort into getting us tickets and I am so excited for this amazing experience with one of my favorite people.”
Taylor Swift has also conquered many people’s TikTok for you page as well. Fans have worked to predict a setlist. Check TikTok to get an idea of which favorites she will be performing.
Don’t stress if you were unable to purchase a ticket at the pre-sale! Sites are speculating that many will be available just weeks prior to the concert for various reasons.
If you haven’t already, be sure to give Taylor’s new album a listen or maybe listen to some throwbacks as we gear up for the tour!
