Who Is Evelyn Jackson? by Abby Neuens
Evelyn Jean Jackson is a ninth grader at Saugatuck High School. She has gone to Saugatuck/Douglas Public Schools since she was in first grade. She transferred from Zeeland in October after being relentlessly bullied for three weeks.
She is 14 years old and can often be spotted around school lugging her 64 ounce water bottle. She has curly brown hair, even though she maintains that it’s blond, or “bronde”, in her words. She is 5’5”, 5’6” with shoes, as she loves platforms.
Evelyn stands up for her opinions and does her best to keep people from being treated poorly. She describes herself as a “jolly ol’ pal,” and most seem to agree with her. She is full of life and is a positive influence on those around her, always bringing a smile to their face. She enjoys riding her bike and collecting old golf balls out of the creek at Clearbrook Golf Club. She goes everywhere she can with her two best friends, Abby Neuens and Lexi Brooks, and always has fun with them.
She has a lively house with two younger siblings: a kindergartener and a sixth grader, Nora and Sam, and a lot of pets. Nora has three lizards, her father has a parrotlet and some angel fish, and she has a green-cheek conure herself. Evelyn is very good with her pets and siblings, and that gentleness carries over into her interactions with others. She takes on a lot of babysitting jobs as a result of her kindness, which can be a blessing and a curse.
She describes herself as kind, smart, compassionate, and absolutely hilarious, though some would disagree with that last statement. Others have described her as energetic, which seems to be an incredibly accurate description because of her constant need to be doing something. She can also be described as loud, as her laugh reverberates around the hallways. She is always talking, but she still manages to get her work done and finish classes with good grades.
Evelyn Jackson was a great addition to Saugatuck nine years ago, and she continues to be an amazing fit to the graduating class of 2027.
