Honda Civics by Chase Seeley
Anyone who has ever been around car culture has probably heard of this legendary car, good or bad. Nobody can deny the Honda Civic has always been prominent in car culture and this article is going to go into detail on this wonderful machine.
The Honda Civic model was originally released in July of 1972 and as most would imagine, they have changed a lot since then. The original model had a modest 60 horsepower engine, but new Civics can reach over 300 completely in stock. But when most think of Civics they rarely think of stock performance. Honda Civics run deep into tuner car culture and it's hard to find any sort of jdm car meet without seeing at least a few of these. Civics were the most prominent in tuning culture in the 90s. The Civic traditionally sports a front engine front wheel drive format keeping a good amount of weight on the front drive wheels making it good for drag racing along with track use as well.
Another famous trait of some of the Civics is the infamous v tech. V tech was designed by honda so their cars could have some power while maintaining good fuel economy. The basic concept of v tech is the engine having two different sets of cams in which the smaller ones are switched to the bigger ones when a certain rpm is hit,in turn, this gives the engine valves a larger opening which gives the engine more air and fuel, hence, more power.
Honda Civics have had a profound impact on the automotive industry as a whole, pushing the envelope and showing that it is possible to have a practical car that can still have high performance as well as be an amazing affordable platform that you can modify to the heart's content. A true titan in the industry. And this all proves more than any other vehicle it's not the size or price that makes the car its the great minds and engineering behind it.
