Girls Basketball is Starting by Maddie Klein
Girls basketball became a big thing generations ago, and Saugatuck Girls Varsity Basketball starts Monday, November 14th.
The girls varsity basketball team is coached by Kevin Tringali. He is very excited; it’s hard not to be when your team has already put in a lot of hard work to prepare for the season. He is excited to see the chemistry the team built over the summer come together and hopefully pay off during the season. He is worried that we are still very young, with a lack of experience beinga concern, but he is very confident the team will be very competitive and feels like he has the type of kids that will give the team a chance in each and every game.
He can’t really explain it, but he just truly loves helping teach the game of basketball. Coaching gives him the opportunity to build a team into a family atmosphere and help prepare young athletes for the real world. He believes the team’s strengths are our senior leadership and our weaknesses could be our lack of experience at some positions.
The girls are getting very excited for the season to start. Erin Moerler is one of the seniors and has played basketball for most of her life. She is excited to be a leader this year and has been a great leader in the past. She is making sure she acts like a leader, but sees herself as equal to the rest of the team. Ada Roth is a new student at Saugatuck this year and is excited to be a freshman starting on our varsity team. She is also excited to start making connections with the team. Kennedy Gusafson is a sophomore that started on varsity as a freshman and is excited to build up the chemistry on our team. She is worried about achieving the same goals as last year, one of the reasons being Mackenzie Pearson, one of our graduated post players, would pass to her a lot.
This is going to be a very exciting season for these girls and it is going to be fun to cheer them on. Go support the girls this season!
