Journalism Class by Aiden Zylman
Journalism class is a fun experience at the end of the school day. Every week, students read and review four articles, work on their yearbook spreads, listen to and review podcasts, and write two articles about topics of their choosing.
When interviewing students, specifically freshmen in journalism, Abby Neuens responded with, “I love journalism; it's quite easy and very fun. My favorite part about this class is that we have the freedom to write whatever our heart desires.” According to Emma Schoonmaker, “This class can be a bit stressful at times; however, I enjoy the fact we get to explore amongst writings that pique our interest.” This class is perfect for beginner journalists and people interested in journalism. Annika Vanderbeek states, “I like this class, especially the days we listen to podcasts. I would for sure recommend this class to anybody who likes to write since we write so much.” Kamryn Sixberry also agrees with Annika, stating, “I do enjoy this class, I would recommend this class to people who like to be creative. My favorite part about this class is that we get to design the yearbook.” Novella DeGraaf exclaims, “I love this class. My favorite part is probably reading about what’s going on in the world. I would recommend this class to anybody who likes an easy class with extra time to get things done.”
According to all these people, you should give journalism a shot. Journalism is a ton of fun, it’s easy, and you get to be creative! The journalism teacher, Ms. Lewis, is a very nice woman who will gladly offer help if needed. This class will be a guaranteed ten out of ten for people who enjoy creativity, writing, reading, and podcasts. The next time you get to choose an elective class, journalism is waiting for you. Take a chance and join the fun.
