War in Ukraine by Kenton Dalman
The war in Ukraine recently reached its 1st year anniversary of being declared, starting on February 24th, 2022, as a Russian “Special Military Operation” into Ukraine to “De-Nazify” the country from their reportedly “Nazi” leadership, with this “Nazi” leadership being made up of a Jewish president. Putin also justified the war in Ukraine by claiming that Ukrainians were just Russians but thought of themselves as different.
The Initial Russian offensive took around a third of Ukraine within just a few short weeks, directly attacking Kyiv from the east, attempting to launch an attack on it from the North, but the Ukrainian resistance forced them out from the city. Around this time they also began to get heavy military assistance from NATO, or the North Atlantic Treaty Organization, led by the USA, who gave the Ukranians military equipment along with training their soldiers to the standard of the USA.
The Ukrainian counteroffensive later that year, starting on August 29th, 2022, would push the Russians back out of nearly 50% of their occupied territory in the north, with poor Russian training and logistical support being the main reasons cited for Russian defeats. On the 30th of September, 2022, Russia announced its annexation of the four Ukrainian Oblasts of Luhansk, Donetsk, Zaporizhzhia and Kherson. This was immediately deemed illegal by a majority of the world, leading to only a single country recognizing this annexation, being North Korea.
More than likely in the coming months, Ukraine will launch a major counter-offensive in the south to push the Russians out of Luhansk, Donetsk, Zaporizhzia, and Kherson, but only time can tell. The Ukrainian president, Zelensky, has gone out of his way to fight on the front lines for Ukraine, which has led to him getting massive popularity among Ukranians.
