Who is Mrs. Moorer? by Maddie Klein
Mrs. Moorer is one of Saugatuck High School’s mathematics teachers. She comes from a long line of educators. Her older brother is an assistant principal at a very large middle school, her mother was an English teacher, high school principal, and assistant superintendent, and her 102-year-old grandmother was also a high school mathematics teacher.
She was born and raised in Columbia, South Carolina; however, she has lived in four states: South Carolina, North Carolina, Indiana, and Michigan. While living and working in the Southern Appalachian Mountains of North Carolina, Mrs. Moorer had her first child, Bradley. While living and teaching in a small farming town in Indiana, Mrs. Moorer had her second child, Elizabeth. Later in January of 2011, she moved to Michigan with her husband Brad, and two kids, now a junior and an eighth grader at Saugatuck.
Mrs. Moorer has a summer birthday on August 7th ,the same as her older brother, but they are not twins! She was his 2-year-old birthday present. She has two brothers, one older and one younger. Her favorite childhood memory would have to be playing softball and summers spent at her family's lake house on Lake Murray, and especially getting to water ski. Those were her two favorite hobbies growing up.
She went to a very large high school: A.C.Flora High School, in Columbia, SC. There were three hundred students in her graduating class. Then she went to Presbyterian College in Clinton, SC for her B.S. degree in Mathematics. She then followed that with a Master’s Degree in Educational Administration from the University of South Carolina in Columbia, SC. Years later, she earned a second master's degree, this time in Mathematics from Ball State University in Muncie, Indiana.
She began teaching at Saugatuck High School in the fall of 2012. She loves being a teacher because she loves being able to help students meet their potential and grow. She is loved by many of her students. If you see in the hallway say hi!
