2024 NFL Draft Analysis and Mock Draft by Ben Maxwell
The NFL draft is just nine days away. This means teams must wrap up all visits with different college players, since the deadline is April 17th. There are many different rumors going around between each different team and who they may draft. However, there is never a way to know exactly what a team may do. That’s why I will be going over what different teams may do with their picks.
The quarterback position is arguably the strongest part of this draft class. Caleb Williams, Drake Maye, Jayden Daniels and even J.J. Mccarthy are all QBs who have a good chance of going in the first round. Williams is almost guaranteed to be picked first overall. However, Maye, Daniels, and McCarthy is where more questions rise. The Washington Commanders have the second overall pick, and many rumors are saying that they will pick Jayden Daniels. Whoever the Commander’s decide not to draft will probably go to the Patriots, who hold the third overall pick.
The wide receiver position is also very strong in this draft. WR Marvin Harrison Jr. is expected to be drafted 4th overall by the Arizona Cardinals. Many believe Harrison Jr. going 4th overall is basically a lock, since he would pair very well with QB Kyler Murray. Rome Odunze and Malik Nabers are the two best WRs behind Harrison Jr. The Giants have the sixth overall pick, and if they don’t draft OT Joe Alt, Odunze or Nabers could go to the Giants. The Giants, Titans, and Chargers are all teams who could also trade back in the draft.
As discussed, the WR and QB positions are very strong this draft. Likewise, the tight end position also has many great players. Brock Bowers is considered one of the best TE prospects of all time. He is 6’ 3” and 243 lbs. He has the ideal build to be an elite TE in the NFL. However, he is not the perfect prospect. He has great acceleration and can block well. However, his catch radius is limited with his slightly below average wingspan. The Los Angeles Chargers is the most bet on team to draft Bowers. With the Chargers losing Gerald Everett, Bowers would be a great addition to the Chargers.
After a lot of research, my final top 10 mock draft is the Chicago Bears drafting Caleb Williams first overall. Then, the Washington Commanders will ultimately end up drafting Jayden Daniels, allowing Drake Maye to fall down to the Patriots third overall. The Cardinals will definitely draft Marvin Harrison Jr. if he is available. I believe the Chargers will draft Brock Bowers fifth overall. The New York Giants will draft Malik Nabers over Rome Odunze. Seventh overall, I have the Titans drafting Joe Alt. I have the Atlanta Falcons drafting Dallas Turner, then the Chicago Bears drafting the next best EDGE rusher available in Jared Verse. And finally, I believe the New York Jets will add Rome Odunze to help out Aaron Rodgers even more.
