How People Feel About Proposition 3 by Xander Ver Helst
As voting starts up very shortly, some students around Saugatuck High School were asked about how they felt about what is going on and what they would vote for/what they are voting for.
Ava Tringali thinks that as a person with a uterus, her body should not be controlled by the government and should be her choice what to do. She thinks it's ridiculous that the country has had this argument.
Nicki McNeil thinks that abortion should be a universal factor. She belives that if the goverment is making a dicison of abortion rights, that people should be intelligent enough to understand what there voting for.
Erika Lloyd thinks that woman should have the right to there body, that no goverment or any religion should tell them what to do with their body, and that the issue with abortion/America is the debate of state and church. They believe that they are not actually separated at the moment.
Lukas Schoonmaker said that he was raised very in a very religous home and that abortion in anyway is bad. He started questioning this kind of logic when he was 15 years old. He realized that it was not all black and white. He has no strong opinion on the topic; he wants to learn more about it, but he definitely agrees that if there is a situation like rape and incest, that the woman should have the right. He said that if he was stuck in a room between pro life or pro choice people, he would go to the pro choice side. He feels like a woman should have more choice over it because she is the one carrying it. He is voting on November 8th.for Gretchen Whitmer, but he is not sure where he is standing on abortion rights yet.
Allie Grumney thinks that women should have the choice because they go through the pain, and they do more during the pregnancy than the men do. She thinks the government likes to have the control factor and not think about what the woman wants.
Maddy Klein thinks that a woman should be able to make their own decisions on their body, especially when if the woman is raped and they don’t want to keep the child.
As November 8th inches closer everyday, people are ready and excited to get their votes in. If you are able to vote, go out and do so, every vote counts.
