Heels or Sneakers? by Mylah Simpson
With the upcoming dance, girls are deciding whether to wear heels or sneakers. Heels often go well with their dresses, but they usually aren't comfortable and that’s why many are deciding to wear sneakers. Sneakers don’t hurt your feet when you dance and they still look great. However, some still believe in the timeless look of heels and love the height that it gives them. So deciding on which ones to where can be quite difficult, yet plenty have already figured it out.
Kenzie Sanders, a senior at Saugatuck, stated that she will be wearing: “Sneakers. Heels aren't comfortable and they hurt to dance in.” She believes that sneakers are the best way to go when it comes to saving your feet while at the dance. Another senior, Elsa Nor, had the same response that she will be wearing sneakers due to the comfort they provide.
So while lots of girls think that sneakers are the way to go, what about the girls who are wearing heels? What’s their reasoning to risk comfort for heels? Lexi Rivera answered that she will be wearing heels simply because they look better. She thinks that comfort can be risked for style.
Some girls want comfort and some want style, but lots of girls want both. They want the style of heels and the support of sneakers. So a solution to this is just by wearing both. Senior, Jenn Schock, states that she will be wearing “heels for pictures and sneakers for the dance.” This allows her to get the best of both worlds when it comes to comfort and style. Mazie Robinson also agrees that she will be wearing heels and then changing into sneakers for the dance. Wearing both allows for girls to be able to dance comfortably, look good during pictures, and save their feet from blisters.
However another problem arises. What about the girls who want to wear heels, but don’t want to have to bring sneakers to the dance? Evelyn Jackson answered this question by saying that she will be wearing heels, but when she gets there she might take them off and go barefoot while dancing. This way she will save her feet and still get to wear heels.
So, when deciding on whether to wear heels or sneakers, base your answer on what you prefer. Do you prefer comfort or style? Or do you want both? Depending on your answer you may choose sneakers, heels, or both. Whatever you decide to wear you will rock, anyway!
